Dean’s passion and life was music. After receiving degrees in voice, organ, and conducting from Westminster Choir College and The College of New Jersey, he sang with the Opera Company of Philadelphia Chorus, artistically directed the Greater South Jersey Chorus, and conducted operas with the Princeton Opera Association. Several of his choral arrangements and compositions were published by Boosey & Hawkes. He also taught music at Roebling Elementary School in Florence, NJ, for over 30 years. Outside of music, he enjoyed baking and gardening.
He is survived by his daughters, Emily Gibson and Lillian (spouse Brian) McVey, both of Medford, NJ; grandchildren Isaac, Simon, and Avery; and other friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Peggy Rishel, and his husband, Larry Friedman.
