Jim was born June 13,1955, in Staten Island, New York to James and Jane (Meehan) Hackett.
He graduated from Monsignor Farrell High school and continued his education at St. John’s University where he earned a degree in Business Administration. Jim spent the majority of his career in advertising, taking his first position at the Staten Island Advance and culminating his career as Vice President of Sales at USA Weekend and then Senior Vice President of Marketing at Parade Magazine in Manhattan.
Jim’s passion for music was a defining part of his life. In his teens he started drumming and later taught himself to play the guitar. He loved attending concerts and playing for others. Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends; playing music with his grandchildren, golfing, and traveling.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Toni, his children and their spouses, Kaitlyn and Ryan McMullan and Josh and Kristin Hackett, as well as his grandchildren Gracie, Ciaran, and Elliott.
His family fondly remembers the love Jim had for those he knew best. In the words of James Taylor, “How sweet it is to be loved by you.”
