Joan E. Hicks

Born on February 1, 1938 in Norristown PA. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy (Mack) Gough.

Joan grew up in Valley Forge, PA and attended Schuylkill Elementary School in Phoenixville, and graduated from Norristown High School. She worked as a secretary at A. P. de Sanno & Son in Phoenixville, and other local businesses in the area. She was employed at a local muffin shop and pet store later in life. Joan traveled with friends on cruises and to Cancun Mexico. She especially loved the beach, and spending summer vacations, holidays and birthdays with grandchildren. Cat companions were a constant in her home. Exercising at the YMCA was a favorite activity.

She is survived by 2 children, Tammy L. Wickstrom, wife of Keith, Dennis M. Hicks, and 4 grandchildren: Hayley Wickstrom (Samson McHugh), Chloe Wickstrom, Shelby Hicks, and Cody Hicks.

Joan is preceded in death by son, Harry J. Hicks “Jay”, sisters Patricia Gough, and Dorothy McIntyre.

A celebration of Joan’s life will take place at Fellowship Hall, First Presbyterian Church in Phoenixville, PA at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Stories and memories will be shared over a meal together. The family requests anyone interested to RSVP by email to [email protected] no later than Monday July 7, 2025.
