Morton L. Silverman

Dr. Morton Lewis Silverman (9/17/1947 - 1/7/2026), son of Joseph Silverman and Lena Lewis Wolf Silverman, half-brother to Della Whitaker and brother to Howard Silverman (both of whom predeceased him), husband of 52 years to Diane Silverman (née Glassman), father to Josh Silverman and Karen Ehrlich, grandfather to Julia Ehrlich, beloved uncle and cousin, and friend to many, passed away at age 78 following a long battle with Parkinson’s.

Morton grew up in pre-gentrification Society Hill, Philadelphia, followed by South Philly. He was a model student who excelled at South Philadelphia High School and earned a full scholarship to University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated cum laude, followed by medical school at Temple University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

He served for decades as a doctor of internal medicine, first in Allentown, PA, followed by Jersey Shore, PA and then in the Philadelphia area, largely as a rehabilitation physician with Medical Rehabilitation Centers of PA. He worked diligently and healed many until his retirement several years ago.

Morton and his wife Diane lived in a lovely home in Dresher, PA for 40 years, where they raised two children who miss him very much.

Morton was a lover of Gilbert & Sullivan, the Beatles, folk music, Mark Twain, the Philadelphia Eagles, British television, the Sunday NYT crossword puzzle, and books. He amassed (and voraciously read) a vast collection of thousands of books, particularly mystery novels, as well as a large collection of antiques and miscellany. He enjoyed traveling the world with his family, and visiting Cape May, NJ each summer. He approached his life with great kindness and generosity, as well as a towering intellect and a fantastic sense of humor.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Keystone Clubhouse Cedar Room on Saturday, February 7th at 1pm at Ann’s Choice, 30000 Ann’s Choice Way, Warminster, PA 18974.

Donations in his name are welcome at the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the American Diabetes Association.
