Robert Dobson

Bob was a lifetime resident of Kimberton, born July 6th, 1936 to Joseph Dobson and Johanna Kersbergen Dobson.

He was preceded in passing by siblings, George Dobson, Gerrit Dobson, and Constance Dobson Baker.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Shirley Burnett Dobson; Children, Robert Dobson, Jr., T. Dobson, and Cheryl Dobson, Grandchildren; Alexandra, Rebecca, and Samantha Dobson; Siblings, Joanna Dobson Sheffer, Kenneth Dobson, John Dobson, and Richard Dobson.

Bob was a life member at Kimberton Fire Company where he held the rank of chief for nineteen years, from 1973 to 1992, with an additional 20 years of service as a member. He also was a member of Phoenix #1, where he met his wife at bingo night, and served as Fire Marshall in East Pikeland Township. He was a proud member of the Chester County Association of Fire Chiefs and served on the volunteer committee of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Bob was a cherished pillar of the community, always ready to help out anyone in need or make you laugh with a perfectly timed quip. Bob adored his wife, his honey, Shirley, more than anything. The two embarked on over twenty Disney Cruises and have been Disney Vacation Club Members since 1995. He loved to take his granddaughters to Disney World. His work with SCM and National Foam made him a world traveler taking him to almost every state and across the globe from Korea to Panama. He loved trains, especially Amtrak, the Phillies, and Willie Nelson.

And as Bob would say, “Stay out of trouble.”

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the COVERED BRIDGE ROOM at Kimberton Fire Company, 2276 Kimberton Road Phoenixville, PA 19460 on July 12th, 2026, at 1 p.m. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their favorite memories. Please wear something red (his favorite color) and absolutely no black.
