Shirley Ann Usner

Shirley A. Usner, 92, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026. Born on March 24, 1934, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Shirley spent most of her life in the community she proudly called home.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Usner; her son, Paul "Chuck" Usner; and her sister Carol Schlutker and brothers Charles Riley, and Michael Riley.

She is survived by her two sisters-in-law’s, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Shirley dedicated her life to caring for others. As a nurse and caregiver, she found her greatest purpose in helping those in need. Whether caring for patients, family, or friends, she gave of herself with compassion, kindness, and unwavering devotion. Nursing was more than a profession to Shirley—it was her calling, and she touched countless lives through her gentle heart and selfless service.

Shirley's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A devoted Catholic and a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, she found strength, comfort, and purpose in her relationship with God. Her faith was reflected in the compassion she showed others, the kindness she extended to everyone she met, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life.

In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed participating in several beauty pageants. She carried herself with beauty, grace, and confidence throughout her life.

Shirley was loved by many, and those who had the privilege of knowing her soon became aware of her specialness. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel comforted, valued, and loved. Her caring nature and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Outside of her work, Shirley enjoyed cheering on her beloved Philadelphia Phillies and treasured the companionship of her precious dogs, who brought her endless joy throughout the years.

Shirley will be remembered for her warm smile, compassionate heart, unwavering dedication to caring for others, and steadfast faith. Her legacy of kindness, love, and devotion to God will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
