Tom spent his working life as a recruiter in the banking and finance industry. He began his career at PSFS, where he met the love of his life, Janet. They went on to share 59 years of marriage, building a life and family together.
Tom enjoyed a wide range of interests throughout his life. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed movies, often mentioning The Magnificent Seven as one of his favorites. In his later years, he enjoyed Daredevil and, as a Philadelphia sports fan, watching Philly teams play, particularly the Eagles and the Phillies.
Tom discovered golf later in life and became a devoted golfer, playing regularly with his community friends, the “MOLs” (Men of Leisure), as well as playing couples golf with Janet. Tom and Janet enjoyed decades of traveling, golfing, and simply being together.
Tom had a terrific sense of humor and always had the right malapropism for any moment. He laughed as often as he made others laugh. He was also a reliable source of insight into careers and life for his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet (Brightbill) McCourt; his sons, Michael and Brian; grandchildren Benjamin and Trinity, and Benjamin’s fiancée, Jessica; his brother, Kevin; his nine nieces and nephews, some of whom still call him “Favorite Uncle Tom”; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, William, and Joseph.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date.
