Bonnie O'Neal Neher

Bonnie Neher, 73, of Susquehanna Township, passed away on July 28, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Tim Neher, her husband of 43 years, and the loving mother of Nathan and Mandy Neher.

Bonnie was born and raised in the Harrisburg area by Paul and Marion O’Neal, with her sisters Linda and Cathy, and graduated from Central Dauphin East High School. She earned a criminal justice degree from HACC and a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Central Missouri State University. She later earned a master's degree in counseling from Shippensburg University while working for the Dauphin County Probation Office.

Bonnie went on to spend 27 years as a counselor and professor of criminal science in the social science division at HACC, where she met Tim and shaped the lives of countless students. An accomplished photographer since childhood, Bonnie exhibited and sold her work in local galleries and traveled extensively, capturing thousands of photographs over her lifetime, breathing life into her favorite expression “Carpe Diem.”

Bonnie married Tim on August 1, 1982. Together they raised two children and were blessed with five grandchildren. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Dauphin. Bonnie is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend with a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband, Tim Neher; her children, Nathan and Mandy; and her five grandchildren, Collins, Conrad, Carter, Mick, and Chase, to whom she passed on her resilience, passion, fighting spirit, compassion, and love of life and family.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a date and time To Be Determined.
