

Daniel Charles Markle, 64, of Hanover, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Dan was the son of the late Charles E. and Barbara (Keeney) Markle and the husband of the late Pamela A. (Keegan) Markle.
He was a 1980 graduate of Hanover Senior High School where he was a member of both the football and wrestling teams. He attended Penn State University for aeronautical engineering.
Dan spent most of his career in the printing industry, mainly at PCA in Timonium, MD, and lastly at Schmidt’s Press in Sparks, MD, where he very much enjoyed time spent with his work family.
Dan is survived by four siblings, Janette A. Foreman, Lori J. Unger (Barry), James E. Markle (Deanna), and Jennifer M. Watson (Michael), nine nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and cousins who were like siblings to him. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Michael A. Foreman.
Dan was an avid reader with a brilliant mind. He was a wealth of information to all who knew him. He was a great lover of the outdoors, where he could often be found exploring forests, fields, and streams with his photography equipment in tow. He enjoyed capturing nature’s beauty, especially taking photos of insects, arachnids, birds, and flowers.
Several highlights of Dan’s life were traveling to Key West with his college buddies, attending many concerts throughout the country, acquiring his pilot’s license, hiking the Appalachian Trail with his brother and friends, and traveling to Michigan numerous times to study nature photography with world-renowned photographer Larry West.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at 11AM, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Gitt Mansion Memorial Library, 2029 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331. Guests are encouraged to dress casually.
