Evelyn Louise Farley, 96, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her home on August 6, surrounded by loved ones. Evelyn lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and church. Strong-willed, fearless, motivated, and relentless, she was affectionately known as “the General”—a nickname that reflected her determination and commanding spirit. She found joy in sewing, tending her garden, and watching golf, but her greatest devotion was to her faith and the people she loved. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Karen; stepdaughter, Tanya; and grandchildren Michael, David, Ken, Krystle, CJ, and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Viola; her first husband, Ken; her second husband, Charles; her brothers, Robert and William; her stepsons, Judd and Charles; and her grandson, Timothy. A service celebrating Evelyn’s life and faith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, at LCBC Harrisburg Church, 4150 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local food bank or the American Red Cross in Evelyn’s memory. Evelyn’s strength and steadfast faith carried her throughout her long life. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord, and her determined spirit and loving influence will remain with them always.
