
She was born on April 15, 1947, to the late Lehr and Ethel (Marchetti) Baynham.
Louise graduated from Central Dauphin High School and retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Office of Comptroller, Bureau of Audits after a long and dedicated career.
Outside of work, she was deeply engaged in her community and the political process. She was an active member of the Young Democrats of Dauphin County and the Dauphin County Democratic Women’s Club, worked the polls on election days, and gave her time to numerous political campaigns over the years.
Louise had a vibrant, social spirit and a gift for bringing people together. Thirty years ago, she founded a monthly girls’ night out, a tradition that continues to bring her friends joy to this day. She was also an active member of the monthly birthday club B.A.B.E.S., served as a board member of the Susquehanna Ski Club, helped plan events for PARSE, and was involved with the Harrisburg Community Theater. She found her greatest joy boating at Raystown Lake, skiing, golfing, traveling, and, above all, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David S. Garland.
She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Dan) Clipper; her daughter, Ashley Garland; her stepson, David Garland; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, James Baynham and Gary Baynham.
Louise will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, sense of humor and her love of life and the people in it. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17112. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central PA Food Bank.
