Melissa Lynn “Missy” Landis, née Smith, passed away peacefully at home, on January 7, 2026, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, at the age of 53. Born on May 11, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland, Missy brought a vibrant and spirited presence to all who knew her.
Missy attended North Carroll High School in Hampstead, Maryland. Missy went on to build a dedicated career in the transportation and logistics industry. She held a Commercial Driver’s License for 25 years—a testament to her determination and work ethic. Over the years, she worked for Prime Inc., Lincoln, and most recently was employed by Ryder Logistics in York, Pennsylvania.
Missy was known for her passionate and energetic nature. Her fiery spirit left a lasting impression wherever she went. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with her family was at the heart of everything she did. Whether it was gathering around the table with loved ones or enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of coffee, Missy cherished these moments deeply.
She had a fondness for collecting roosters and enjoyed playing pool and quarters—activities that reflected her fun-loving personality and competitive edge. Her home was often filled with laughter and warmth, shaped by her unique blend of intensity and affection.
Missy is lovingly remembered by her mother, Mary Witte; her brother Johnny Witte and his wife Amanda; her children: Gage Conner and his wife Tami, Dru Conner and his wife Jessica, Devin Conner, and Katlyn Conner; as well as twelve cherished grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her brother James “Bobber” Robert Witte and her grandparents Alden and Betty Shaffer.
Melissa Lynn “Missy” Landis will be remembered for the strength of her spirit and the love she gave so freely to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time, to be determined by the family.
