Born April 29, 1952, in Carlisle, Robert was the son of the late Robert V. Kephart Sr. and Frances A. (Strickler) Kephart. He was a graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a degree in computer science, and went on to build a career as a software consultant.
Uncle Buddy found great joy in the outdoors and took pride in caring for the land around him. He was a devoted steward of the land and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and SCUBA diving. Whether tending his garden, spending time in the woods, or exploring beneath the water, he had a deep appreciation for nature and the many ways it could be experienced. In addition to his family and friends, he loved his German Shorthairs. He will be remembered for his independent spirit, curiosity, and lifelong love of learning.
Robert is survived by his son, Matthew J. Kephart, husband of Michelle, of Felton; his grandchildren, Greyson and Hazel, who brought him great joy; his sister, Susan E. Kephart, of Lemoyne; nephew Joshua Firkal of Lemoyne; and nieces Kimberly L. Bennett, wife of Ken, of Millerstown, Emily F. Kephart, wife of Weston Hardy, of Duncannon, and Rachel L. Kephart of Duncannon. He also leaves behind many lifelong friends who will remember him fondly.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Kephart, of Marysville.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date, when family and friends will gather to remember and honor Robert’s life.
