Ruth Nye Gettle

Ruth N. Gettle, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Spring Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of John L. Gettle whom she had married in October 1973. They met through friends at the Kingdom Hall.

Born September 14, 1933, in Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late Ivan & Emma (Waltrick) Nye and came from a family of 11 children.

Ruth was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Lower Paxton Congregation and previously the Middletown Congregation. She loved going in the ministry.

She worked as an office clerk for Hershey Estates for 23 years and enjoyed writing poems.

She is survived by her sister, Annette Godwin (Donald); 2 nephews, Dale (Jackie) Godwin and Daryl (Jonna) Godwin; and a niece, Bonnie Malloy.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 9 siblings.

A memorial service led by Everett Rodrigues will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, 1:00 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5761 Union Deposit Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
