

Samuel Richard Palumbo, affectionately known as “Ricky” and “SRP,” passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on July 12, 1957, Samuel lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and a deep love for the outdoors. He began his career working on the railroad alongside his father Carmine, and his brothers, Michael and Carmine, forming lifelong bonds through their shared dedication and labor. After retiring from the railroad following a car accident, Samuel devoted himself fully to his passion for waterfowl hunting. He became a respected guide in North Dakota, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with countless others. Hunting was not just a hobby, but a way of life—one he loved sharing with his sons, Joe and Dominic. He proudly competed in duck and goose calling contests across the country, often alongside Joe, creating lasting memories and a legacy of tradition, skill, and camaraderie. Above all, Samuel was a fantastic father and grandfather. His love, strength, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving children: Joe, Dominic and Mary Grace; his siblings Michael and Mickey and by his significant other, Jami. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Charlee Jo, King, England and Aniyah who brought him immense joy. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers (Tommy and Carmine) and his wife Wendy. Samuel’s life will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his passion for the outdoors, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
