

Alan was married to the love of his life, Carol Ferrin Gross, for 55 years. He was a devoted and loving father to his two children, Kristen Joy Capp (Dan), and Timothy Alan Gross (Corri). He adored being Pop-Pop to his six grandchildren, Kaity, AJ, Lexie, Phoebe, Jake, and Lyla.
Also remaining to cherish Alan are his three siblings David Gross (Sue), Susan Gross Golde (Cris), and Phillip Gross (Donna), along with many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, in-laws, and many friends near and far.
Alan graduated from Abington High School in 1966 then earned a Pastoral Studies and Voice Performance Degree from Cairn University (formerly Philadelphia Biblical University). He was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 1983.
Alan was a beloved pastor of four different churches throughout his 42 years of ministry alongside Carol. He started at Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton, New Jersey from 1973-1988 then moved onto Second Baptist Church of North Stonington, CT from 1988-1994. From 1994-2000 he served as Worship Pastor at First Evangelical Free Church of McKeesport, PA and then moved on as Senior Pastor of Riverview Baptist Church also of McKeesport from 2000 until his retirement in 2016. He never stopped sharing the gospel and never looked at it as a job.
Alan loved the Lord first and foremost. He loved his family and creating special memories with them. He always had a smile on his face and time to share words of wisdom. He had a beautiful singing voice. He loved building, gardening, fishing, and bird-watching.
A memorial service will be held on December 6th at 3pm at Refuge Church located at 21 Broadway Avenue, Manor, PA 15665. Memorial Contributions may be made to Refuge Church at churchrefuge.com.
