David Arthur Frank

Born on March 24, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, David was the son of the late Elwood and Virginia Frank. He is survived by his wife, Janet Frank; his children, John Parker (Diane), Debra Andreas (Kip), and Scott Frank (Brenda); his grandchildren, Sara Parker and Wesley Parker; his brother, Richard Frank (Cam); and several nieces and nephews.

He attended Carnegie Tech, where he studied engineering, laying the foundation for a career that included positions with Corning, Dravo, and Pennsylvania Engineering, as well as managing the medical practice of his late wife Barbara Frank.

An engineer at heart, both professionally and personally, David approached life with curiosity, determination, and the belief that nearly any problem could be solved with enough thought and persistence. Intelligent and unapologetically stubborn, he was always willing to help others tackle a challenge, encouraging them - with a smile - to believe they could accomplish anything they put their minds to.

Outside of his career, David’s greatest passions were sailing boats and the world of automobiles. He enjoyed sailing in both northern and tropical waters, as well as driving in autocross and road racing competitions, and the engineering, building, and preparing of race cars. In particular Dave had a lifelong love of Corvettes. Whether on the water, in the garage, or at the track, he took pride in craftsmanship, ingenuity, and doing things the right way.

In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held. Those wishing to honor David’s memory may consider a memorial contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charitable organization meaningful to him.
