Mrs. Jane E. Cotton, 91, of Glen Osborne (Sewickley) passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026 surrounded by loving family. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on August 30, 1935, she was the youngest child of the late Francis and Adeline (Paige) Peters and sister to the late Richard F. Peters and Gladys Bryant. She was married to David H. Cotton Sr. who predeceased her in 2024.
Jane had a passion for interior decorating and garden design. She spent nearly six decades creating beautiful indoor/outdoor spaces at her Osborne property, which was featured several times on the Sewickley Garden Tour. She was also a passionate supporter of God’s creatures and contributed to many animal advocacy groups. After Hurricane Katrina, she organized a food drive to help displaced pets and collected enough donations to fill a large truck.
Although a nurse by profession, Jane was an actress at heart with a flair for the dramatic. She infused daily life with drama, emotion, and curiosity, making the ordinary feel unexpected and the mundane worth remembering.
She is survived by her children, David H. Cotton, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Kelly Clay-Slack of Ingomar, PA, Lesley Clarke of Sewickley, PA, and Richard (Brent) Cotton of Moon Township, PA., three grandchildren, Heather Clay, Christopher Clarke, and Selena Slack, and son-in-law Thomas G. Slack. Son-in-law Timothy D. Clarke predeceased her in 2016.
A private interment will be held at Sewickley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Divine Redeemer Parish, 200 Walnut St. Sewickley, PA. 15143, or an animal shelter of your choosing.
