I am deeply saddened to have only just find out about Mr. Benko's passing. I was just trying to text his cell and got the auto-response that the # was a landline and have thus unfortunately found myself here.

I joined Ham radio club at North Hills High School in 2002 in the 8th grade and spent a lot of time with Mr. Benko between 2002 and 2006. We had so many laughs and I made friendships with people I wouldn't have otherwise because of his ham club and Friday DX nights.

When I gave driving lessons to his daughter a couple years ago, I really hoped maybe I could reconnect with him. He was so interesting and hilarious to be around. I'm absolutely heartbroken to have found out so late but I will never forget him. I loved being around him.

To the Benko Family,
I have soooo many memories of Mike, there are almost too many to mention here! His concerts on the deck! The time he took Danielle and Will to a concert, the trip we took to Cedar Point, the way he killed the weeds without chemicals but the fire department came instead. He will be sorely missed. We love you all and we know your hearts are broken. Ours are broken for you. In time, you will remember the good times and the pain will lessen but you will always have a hole in your heart, the piece your husband and dad had. Right now, it’s too hard, I know.
