Douglas Leroy Batzel

Douglas Leroy Batzel, age 81, of Madison Township, PA, passed away on the evening of Wed September 16, 2026 at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA, in the presence of his wife Kathy and family of sons and daughter.

He was born February 11, 1945 in Susquehanna, PA to Owen Rexford Batzel and Beatrice Elizabeth Batzel (ne Swingle). Doug attended North Pocono High School and went on to obtain his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He served his country as an Air Force Staff Sgt Machinist in the Vietnam War, after which he began his family and continued working as a machinist, tool and die maker, and business owner. This culminated in Batzel Engineering which served the Oil and Gas Pipeline owners around the world by custom designing and building the "pigs" used to clean and maintain inside the pipelines.

More important to him was his Faith. Douglas was a devoted Christian, an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America, and served at several churches. He was constantly sharing the Good News of how to be saved, forgiven, and accepted by God and adopted as His sons and daughters. Having accepted this Free Gift himself, he is now enjoying his reward of rest and Eternal Life with his Lord Jesus and all the saints.
