Maxine (Bowman) Shallenberger


M. Maxine Bowman (Zug) Shallenberger, 92, of Lancaster, PA, passed away Thursday, Aptil 18, 2019, at Brethren Village. Born August 29, 1926, in Ithaca, NY, daughter of the late Frank and Katherine E. Bowman.

Maxine was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her adult life, she was a Pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and teacher. Maxine had a great love for classical and sacred music, the arts, and the beauty of nature-which she passed along to her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest joy.

Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Zug Colak (Frank) of Harrisburg, PA, Deborah Zug McNeal (Mike) of Pelham, AL, Krista Zug Baker (Tom) of St. George, UT, and beloved grandchildren: Lindsay, McNeal Ison (Mark), Marko Francis Colak (Ellissa), Marisa Colak Allen (Lachlan) and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Glenn Carper Zug; her husband of 4 years, Leslie Shallenberger; her parents; siblings: brothers, Harold, Sherman, Vernon, Keith, Frank, Jr., and Robert; and sisters, Edna and Lorena.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 1:30 pm, at Lancaster Church of the Brethren (Chapel), 1601 Sunset Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601.
