Veterans


Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. thanks the men and women who have served our country in order to keep our great nation free and safe. We serve many military families daily, and it is our honor to do so.

The following is a list of benefits available to any active duty member, most honorably discharged veterans, and in some cases, their spouse. (photocopy of military discharge required):

  • Reimbursement of burial expenses (if qualified)
  • Pennsylvania county death benefit (if qualified)
  • Free death certificates from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (to be received in approximately 6 weeks to 4 months)
  • A United States burial flag
  • A Presidential Memorial Certificate

National Cemeteries

Burial for veterans, their spouses, and unmarried minor or permanently disabled, dependent children is available at no cost in most of the 120 VA National Cemeteries

  • Many of the military families we service will select burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA, Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA, or Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA
  • Veterans and their spouse will be given, at no charge, a grave, for either traditional or cremation burial
  • A granite or bronze marker will also be provided, dependent upon the type of burial and location

Indiantown Gap National Cemetery

  • Services are scheduled at half hour intervals, weekdays only, holidays excluded: 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., with no service at high noon
    • Services are held in a committal shelter
    • Families are invited to visit the burial site after 4:00 p.m. the day of interment
  • A chaplain is NOT provided by the cemetery
    • We can help you find a clergy person of your faith
    • An Honorarium is recommended and appreciated
  • Military honors are rendered by local veterans groups on a rotating basis

~ We cannot apply for benefits without a DD214. Older veterans may have a discharge that simply reads: “Record of Military Service.” We cannot apply for any benefits without this discharge. If you do not have a copy of the discharge, we will assist you in filing one.
